We had a truly impressive field of candidates for this year’s Student Internship and Scholarship Award. The applicants made presentations to the Board at our March 1 meeting, and we’re happy to report that the highly qualified pool of contenders made selection of a winner difficult. It’s exciting that there are so many talented, focused young people in our local colleges. We hope that this Award and its recipients will work to foster mutually beneficial relationships between Ad Club and area students. In fact, that is specifically the goal tasked to this year’s winner: Zach Lewis.
Zach is a Clinton native and is currently a freshman in the Cybersecurity and Information Assurance program at Utica College. Zach will be declaring a minor in Marketing and Public Relations. In the summer of 2010, he served as an intern in the Public Relations and Development Department at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare. The Board chose Zach for his demonstrated industriousness and his broad skill set—he’s a talented writer, photographer, graphic designer, and videographer. As Ad Club’s Student Internship and Scholarship Award winner, Zach will receive a $1,000 honorarium, a free 2011/2012 Ad Club membership, a potential summer internship with an Ad Club member’s company, and will work with the guidance of the Board to develop marketing materials and strategies intended to increase Ad Club student membership. Zach will present his completed project to the full Ad Club membership at our April meeting.
