Would you like to be a mentor? Student members interested in our mentoring program will be paired by the board of directors with an Ad Club member who is expert in the appropriate field and who is eager to work one-to-one to support and encourage professional growth.
AS A MENTOR YOU WILL:
- Continuously ask the right questions to understand your student’s academic and professional goals
- Provide career insights and perspective and give feedback on your student’s current body of work
- Coach your student to help him or her achieve key academic/professional milestones
- Give “been there done that” advice on effective ways to overcome obstacles
- Connect your student with other experts or key opinion leaders in your area of interest
Mentoring is a self-guided process that is dependent on the questions and needs of each participant,
so the format can be customized to include simply “as needed” phone meetings to job shadowing or portfolio/resume review.
If the role model’s message is “be like me,” the mentor’s implicit message says: “I will help you be whoever you want to be.”
